Tracy Morgan, for those of you who still don't know, has a very extreme and weird sense of humor. Everything he does ambiguous because one does not know whether he's being serious or if he's playing a role. Every interview he's done has people questioning whether or not he was drunk during the interview. It's all a (for lack of a better word) a "gimmick" to ensure that he's being talked about. It's just a way to keep his name in the media.
And to answer your questions, there is no such thing as a post-racial America because (even though Obama won the presidency) racism is still alive and well. And if America was in a post-racial state, there would be no one "spokesperson."

Tracy Morgan is a drunken idiot, who can't keep his wife. He is an embarrassment to the black community. He couldn't even speak English at the Globes.

Please, it's not that serious. Anyone who knows of Tracy Morgan's past battles, his eccentric humor and the character he portrays on "30 Rock," realize why Tina Fey put him front and center. Ne deep examination of his speech required.

Sounds like satire to my ears. Mayhaps my sense of humor is just as wierd and twisted as Tracy Morgan's is.

I think it'd help to understand his comment if you stopped taking yourself so seriously. He's a comedian.

I can not believe how serious people have taken this speech, not at all seeing the irony in it. Of course America is not post-racial. Tracy Morgan was being sarcastic, making fun of the mainstream media's own insistence of a post-racial America.

Oh, and in response to Morgan's comment directed at Kate Blanchette, I agree, the joke was a bit ambiguous. I think it had to do with the fact that Blanchette is a derivative of the word Blanche, which is french for white.

If Mr. Morgan were more talented, he wouldn't have to try so hard to get attention and in the effort make a fool of himself.
